Quizzes, Tests, and Exams

Information

If you think that you may be struggling with a disability, please see disability services. For those students who have documentation for extra time, I have created special tests that give more time.

Quizzes may be taken as many times as you like. These are not for a grade, but help you to master the materials and prepared for tests and exams

Tests and exams in my courses (MUSC 105, MUSC 116, MUSC 355, and MUSC 452/552) may be taken only once. The only exception is the Introductory Test. This test will also serve as a practice test--take as may times as you like--so that you become familiar with the format.

As of Summer 2018, all of the tests and exams are in a new format (HTML5), which is accessible to handheld devices as well as computers. As time allows, I will be converting all of the quizzes to the new format as well.

How to Prepare for Tests and Exams

All tests and exams are open book. You may refer to items given in the course, printed materials, and anything on the Internet. You may not, however, consult with others or have someone else help you with the tests or exams.

1) Take careful notes when you read assignments. Write down important items and include where to find them. This can then serve as an index for you during tests and exams.

2) You might find it useful to have access to two computers (or computer and phone) at the time of testing. One has open the test or exam and the other you use for web searching.

3) Have all of your notes and the materials at hand. If the test or exam covers materials from a reading in the course, be sure that have access to that as well.

4) Before you take the test or exam, review your notes. Have all of your materials ready, calm yourself, and then begin. Make sure you are in a place that is free of disturbance during the testing. The standard time for tests and exams in the course is from 10-20 minutes.
