Mac vs. PC commands

In this course you will need to master basics of Mac or PC commands, if you haven't already done so. Sorry Mac users, but most of my instructions in the course are with PC commands.

Without much trouble, however, you should be able to convert the commands to your Mac platform.

Here is a simple table:

Downloading a file

In this course you will need to be able to download and save files. Let's practice with a sound file. Here is an mp3 recording of a bassoon performance I gave:

 1) To play the file click (PC left click) on the file. This should launch a player on your computer that will play the file. Sometimes the player is embedded (appears a part of) your browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari). Sometimes the player will be launched separately. Do you hear the file? If not, make certain your computer speakers are on.

You must successfully be able to play audio and video files in this course to succeed.

 2) Now download the file: Mac control click, PC right click. Mac “download linked file as” and rename it and place it in a directory you want. If not, it should be in a directory called “download.” For safety, write down the file name so you can search for it. Find the file now and play it on your computer.
